About Training:

As per the ordinance of University of Mumbai, it is mandatory for the students to undertake in-plant training for four weeks in a pharmaceutical manufacturing unit. The Training helps the students to understand the industrial operations and the use of latest equipments and instruments employed in the industry. At the same time, training exposure boosts eager of the students towards R & D, Formulation and Development and many other fields of the Pharma Industries. On completion of one month training, the industry issues a certificate to the student.

About Placement:

It is the call of modern time to create all-round diligent intellectuals in Pharma field who would be able to carry out the expectations of Pharmaceutical industry. With this vision, we at IIP are committed to shape our students who would have commendable knowledge and tremendous vigor to work in Pharmaceutical Industry. Besides this we also aim at facilitating the job opportunities for our students and putting an end to the consistent demand of the industry for highly creative and potential students.
The training &placement cell of our institute, headed by Mr. Nagare S.K, extends a warm welcome to the Parma industries, CRO’s and allied healthcare industries for their visit in search of Pharmaceutical talent. We express with the conviction that our student, with their talents, will come off with flying colours by bringing the results desired.

An IIPian will have ample of opportunities in the following field, many of our alumni working in diverse areas of pharma field.
The following are the challenging fields where students can learn and earn.
A career in the pharmaceutical sciences is full of opportunities. Mentioned below are some of the options a pharmacy professional can venture into:

R & D : The pharmacy industry is one such industry that thrives on research and development. For this option, M.Pharms and PhDs are highly in demand for research of new drugs, process development, formulation, development, clinical trials and Toxicological Studies.

Analysis and Testing : Analysis and testing go hand in hand with this industry,specially in order to maintain a proper Quality control (QC) and Quality Assurance (QA). For the same highly skilled staff is required by companies to handle sensitive analytical dealings and sophisticated equipment.

Marketing : The Pharmaceuticals sales and marketing is considered to be a highly technical arena and hence one of the best when it comes to perks.

Hospitals : Although it might be a trend of the US or Canada, but it is one that seem to be setting in India as well. The pharmacists in the hospitals are the best knowledge able individuals for prescribing a drug. Mostly in western countries, the diagnosis is made by the doctors but the pharmacists decide the medicines and their dosage. Therefore, Pharmacy graduates have important role and can earn attractive remuneration and can occupy strategic positions.

Regulatory Bodies : There are bodies that control and regulate medicines. FDA is the regulatory body that deals with governing and implementing the rules and regulations for the Drug and Pharmaceutical industry. The post of Drug Inspector, Asst. Drug Controller, Deputy Drug Controller, Drug Controller of state and finally D.C. I. (Drug Controller of India) is an option one can aspire for.

Training and Career Guidance :

The Career Guidance cell is intended primarily to assist students in their career planning and provides information that helps the students to give a direction to their aspirations and interests. The IIP believes in timely counseling and arrange training sessions that enhances the students to compete with the best challenges in Industry. Career counseling programmes are undertaken periodically by the T&P officer to guide the students. The interactive sessions by the eminent persons in respective fields are also conducted regularly.

Objectives :

  • To initiate one month in-plant industrial training in reputed Pharmaceutical companies for students.
  • To give training and guidance to students on career related matters and assist them in exploring new opportunities.
  • To invite companies / organizations for campus interviews and provide them necessary facilities for conducting written test, Group discussion, Technical and HR interview etc.
  • To arrange industrial visit and training for final year and pre-final year students.
  • To organize various types and levels of training programmes like mock interviews, group discussions, experience sharing by eminent personalities, business communication skills and conduct model tests for various types of aptitude tests.
  • To display various job advertisement coming in employment news, opportunities and career columns in leading news papers.

Placement and Campus Interview:-

Placement Cell : The institute takes keen interest in in-campus and off-campus placement of fresh graduates in various industries by arranging campus interview every year during the months of April to July.

The placement programme of the IIP is a win-win concept. The companies have opportunity to select from the best pool of talents where the students have the freedom to choose and join the company that suits them most.

The Programme is spear headed by a Training and Placement committee which acts as a link between companies and students.The committee consists of student representatives and guided by faculty members. The committee liaises with prospective recruiters, coordinates with corporate relations, organize pre-placement talks and takes care of logistics.

The corporateis given a copy of institute Brochure/ Leaflets and if necessary, a detailed presentation is made about the institution, students and their attainment for their proper assessments of the students by the corporate.

IIP requests the corporate world to give a pre-placement talk in the campus. This Helps the students to understand the corporate structure and assess their career potential.The corporate are encouraged to distribute company related literature such as Annual report and House magazine. The institute provides facilities such as slide projector, LCD, OHP, etc.. for corporate to make their presentations.

Industrial Visits:-

Industrial visit is a part of the professional course, during which students visit companies and get insight of on the internal working environment of the company. The industrial visit also provides an insight on working conditions of companies and also useful information related to the practical aspects of the course which cannot be visualized in lectures. With an aim to go beyond academics, these visits are arranged to develop the insights of the students – attaining practical knowledge and their theoretical applications there of.

Industrial visit is considered as one of the most tactical methods of teaching. The main reason behind this – it lets students to know things practically through interaction, working methods and employment practices. Moreover, it gives exposure from academic point of view.

We take a group of students for a guided tour into the premises of various industries, providing them information about the background of the companies and their current position in the global business scenario. The aim of such visit it to
